In 1972 Miss Vigilante joined KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and began to see the world fulfilling her childhood dream. Eight years later expanded into the new world of computers at Wang Laboratories and later entered the public relations arena at Scheffelin & Company.
In 1983 Janet learned the cruise industry in Florida and two years later at the age of 33 became a pioneer by opening her own agency coaching a team of cruise specialists with the only requirement being passion “you’ve got to do what you love and be willing to do it for free”; that alone led to the success of Anchors Away World Cruise Specialists. Miss Vigilante developed a comprehensive cruise course with innovative sales and marketing campaigns and trained hundreds how to do what they love most-Cruising.
As a group specialist, Janet led the industry raising thousands of fund-raising dollars for many Jewish organizations where they chartered entire cruise ships for their benefits.
Never missing an opportunity to make their presence known, Anchors Away distributes annually “Great Destination” calendars, published their own Cruise News magazine where they described the sensation of being at sea and visiting new ports of call, established a Ship Mates Club designed for single sailors and hosts “show & tell” ship tours with lunch using “new builts” to attract potential cruisers.
This vibrant trendsetter has been part of regional events and functions like the Super Bowl, South Florida Boat Show, Habilitation for Handicapped, State of Florida, Division of Blind Services, American Cancer Society, Kiwanis Club, AARP, Nova and Florida Atlantic University along with major corporations such as Siemens, Florida Power and Light, Allied Signal, National Performance Warehouse, Barnett Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield for customer and employee appreciation. Most recently you will find them at the beach, where the fun meets the sun at Canada Fest in Hollywood attracting thousands of snowbirds.
In 2001 with a visit to The Holy Land Experience, a faith-based theme park in Orlando, Janet launched a new segment of Anchors Away and to date has served thousands with Land and Sea conference cruises and bus tours.
As a pioneer in the industry, Janet & Anchors Away has stood strong through the birth of the dot coms, changing winds of time, travel trends, new security guidelines in all areas of air, land, sea, corporate and leisure travel.
To date she has visited 57 countries and 26 states. Her personal goal is to continue her devotion to the Cruise industry, travel the world taking lots of pictures, make friends along the way and be faithful in all areas of her blessed life as she charts the future for Anchors Away, navigates new seas of possibilities, rescuing potential customers and creating for them dreams as they take the trip of a lifetime.

Panama Canal was fascinating, Canada & New England let me see the fall colors again.When we vacationed in Brazil for 6 weeks, I fell in love with the country & people.
